Budgam, Nov 11 (KNO): In the centre of district Budgam, the youth turned out in good numbers today, saying they voted for individuals and faces, not political parties. At the Block Development Office polling station, located close to the main town and near the Deputy Commissioner’s office, youth were seen gathered in groups outside the polling station while discussions on voting were underway. One such voter, Zubair Ali, told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that they voted for faces, not parties. “We are tired of being remembered only during elections. We want leadership that stays connected to the ground,” he said, adding that they have seen the same promises repeated over the years. Mohammed Hussain, another voter outside the Government Girls Higher Secondary School polling station, who was in his forties, shared that this time they are voting for someone who can actually deliver on development. Similarly, scenes outside several other polling stations in the main town were the same, with people, especially young voters, seen discussing outside the booths. Among them were a few first-time voters who said they cast their ballots for change—(KNO)
